General
* Who's in charge of this thing anyway?
The current auction staff consists of:
Heruakhetymose -- organizer and web hawk
Shefytbast -- donation wrangler
Wasiaset -- money wrangler
Nesyutenmutes -- auction promoter
Taqaisenu -- backup auction overseer and domain grabber
While Hemet has approved this fundraiser, she is not involved in running it herself; please contact one of the staff members listed above if you have any questions or concerns.
Donating
* What kinds of things can I donate to the auction?
You can donate anything! (Well, anything legal.) Kemetic items, non-Kemetic items, and services are all accepted gladly. Bear in mind that you'll need to be able to ship material items to the winning bidder, who may be overseas. Items should be in reasonably good condition -- any wear or damage should be noted in the description.
* Can I have my friends donate items too?
The more items the better, but we'd prefer it if you could handle the item(s) for them, including submission and shipping. (Some bidders may be reluctant to let nonmembers have their contact info.)
* What happens if nobody bids on my item? *sniffle*
If no one bids, you'll be offered the option to roll the item over into the next auction or to withdraw it. You can always resubmit the item at a later time.
* I'm confused about the shipping cost thing.
We're asking donors to supply shipping costs for their items up front, so bidders can take that cost into account when placing their bids. After the winning bidder sends in his or her payment, you'll be reimbursed based on the amount supplied when you submitted your item to the auction. Shipping costs cannot be changed once submitted, so please research carefully and give us your best estimate!
Reimbursement will be via Paypal. If you absolutely cannot use Paypal, use the contact form and ask about "Payment" to work out an alternative. Please do this *before* submitting your item to the auction!
If you choose, you have the option to waive some or all of your reimbursement, so that money can be donated as well. You'll have a chance to discuss this with the auction staff when they contact you following the close of the auction. (Because not every donor can afford to eat the shipping costs, and because people's circumstances can change unexpectedly, the option to waive is handled privately, after the auction has closed.)
If you still have questions about your shipping cost, please contact us and ask about "Shipping".
Bidding
* Why does the bidding form ask me for a password?
The auction is open only to members of the House of Netjer, so bidding is password-protected. You can find the current password in the House Fundraiser Auction thread on the forums. Please don't share it with nonmembers!
* Does my bid include shipping for my item?
Shipping costs are in addition to the amount of your bid. Please be sure you can cover the total amount: your bid plus shipping! (Shipping amounts are listed on the item's page.)
* What if I can't (or won't) use Paypal?
Paypal is strongly preferred, but you can contact us to discuss possible alternatives. Please do so *before* bidding on your item!
* Can I take this as a tax deduction?
Bids do not count for tax deductions, since you'll be receiving something tangible for your money. (You can of course always donate directly to the House via their donation page. Direct donations are always tax deductible.)
